SHIPPING

How much is shipping? For all of us, freight is an increasing cost which we are very mindful of. We subsidise every delivery we make, so that the costs are minimised for the consumer. We have currently set shipping at $20, unless you are in Adelaide Metro in which case it's $15. We endeavour to keep freight at this minimum amount for as long as possible.

Which countries do you ship to? At this stage we only ship to Australia, New Zealand and the UK. Please contact us at cellarbar@somerled.com.au for more information.

When will my order arrive? You'll be notified as soon as your order is shipped (which is almost always within the same working day) and you'll receive a tracking link from our carrier. Orders to metro Adelaide arrive within 2 days. Orders to Melbourne & Sydney usually arrive within 3 days. Orders further afield may take 7-10 days.

Can I change my address after placing an order? Please contact us as soon as possible on 08 8388 7478 after placing your order - we'll get right onto it. If our carrier has already left with your package, however, it may be too late. We will endeavour to find the package depending on the circumstances, and send a brand new pack to you, which may incur a $25 retrieval fee.

My order is damaged or didn’t turn up, what should I do? In this unusual circumstance, please contact us immediately on 08 8388 7478 or at cellarbar@somerled.com.au. ABOUT US

Where are your vineyards?Out in the carpark… didn’t you see them when you came in?! Once we’ve all recovered from that hilarious joke that never gets old, we explain the real story! Most of our grapes come from one of two vineyards: Paul Henschke’s property at Summertown (otherwise known as the second highest vineyard in South Australia) provides our pinot noir grapes for the Somerled Sparkling wine. Kym Anderson’s vineyard at Charleston provides most of the other fruit. Since the bushfires of 2019, we also get some Chardonnay and Pinot from Alister McMichael’s Romney Park vineyard. Our Shiraz grapes are from McLaren Vale.

Where do you make your wine?Rob makes his wine at the Lodestone facility just outside Mount Torrens, which is set up to process grapes for smaller producers. Rob is heavily involved at all the critical stages, but there are younger people at Lodestone who are happy to lug hoses, climb up on top of tanks and get inside vats to clean them out! A good percentage of Rob’s days are spent here (or in the vineyard) during vintage.

How long has Rob Moody been making wine? With no experience in winemaking, but with a dream of breaking into the industry, Rob in the late 1960s began posting letters to the major producers – Orlando, Hardy’s, Penfolds and so on. Who was the only one to answer? Max Schubert, the Father of Grange, of course! Max agreed to Rob’s rather cheeky suggestion that he put the young chap through the Roseworthy oenology course. By 1969, Rob was Assistant Winemaker. And by 1971, he was in charge of the red ferments and for the ’71 Grange – famous for being the best wine in the world for that decade.

Max then personally asked Rob to oversee the Grange winemaking when it all moved to the Barossa in subsequent years. A natural fit for a quiet, masterful talent. No wonder The Advertiser says Rob’s wine is now ‘about as close to Grange as you’ll get’.

What makes Somerled so special? First and foremost, of course: Rob’s wine. After more than 55 vintages, we can assume he knows what he’s doing by now! And it absolutely shows in his wine. Vintage after vintage of sensational drops that keep our members, visitors and us coming back for more time and time again. The other reason is: the Moody Family. Rob, Heather and Lucy make it their purpose in life to make sure that everyone who comes through our doors (or calls or emails us) is made to feel like part of their extended family. And the number of locals and regulars who have become life-long friends is a testament to that.

When are new vintages released? We release new vintages regularly throughout the year. To hear about the latest news and announcements, become a Jockey Club member (link out)

How do I purchase Museum and rare Somerled wines? We occasionally have an exciting special release. For more information please contact us. Museum Wines link.

Where can I find tasting notes?Tasting notes are written by Rob with each release. You can find them here (link out)

When should I open and drink my Somerled wines? WineCraft

How should I store my wine? WineCraft

Where can I find Somerled wines? Somerled is proud to be a boutique and exclusive producer. You’ll find the wine only in our online store, as well as as a Member and in the family's Cellar Bar in Hahndorf’s main street.
